Tipping fees are funds collected by the City of Greater Sudbury to operate the landfill sites and are billed by the metric tonne. All vehicles are required to stop at the weigh scale when entering and again when exiting a Greater Sudbury landfill sites.

Kinda! Most customers place, on average, 1 to 1.7 tonnes of waste in their bin rental. That’s then typically about $106-180 +/-. The tipping fees are charged at face value, so in other words, whatever the city charges on the scales is what you pay.

We do not accept hazardous waste (including toxic, corrosive, flammable, or liquid materials), household garbage such as kitchen or food waste, medical or biohazardous waste, vehicle batteries, or asbestos.
Dried paint left in open paint cans is acceptable.

Our pricing page gives some details on the bin dimensions and the pick-up truck equivalents which gives a good idea of the size of bin you might need.

For construction, demolition, or large home clean-outs and renovations, we recommend a 15 or 20-yard bin to handle the volume.
For roofing projects, we recommend a 10 or 15-yard bin.

For smaller clean-ups, or if you're disposing of heavy materials like concrete, brick, or gravel, we provide 10-yard bins with a clean fill line — sized right to keep things safe and manageable.
